Out of the Ashes

out of the ashes
of our lost dreams
charred
shattered
spent
burned by the fire of living
leaving us more than desolate
in mind
in spirit
out of our own ashes
must rise our new dreams
our new spirit
melted by the fire
forged by life’s hammer
shaped by our God
quenched to the very depths of our soul
by our very own personal tears
and we must choose
choose to be
always safe
always secure
or
choose to fly
like the Phoenix
up from our own
very personal ashes
into the golden sunshine
of this yet new day
and if we fly
we risk again
the fall into the fire
all the tears
all the pain
and I say to you
come fly with me
taste again
the wind in our faces
the glorious sunshine
the thrill of just being alive
moment
by moment
